After care at Airsman - Hires Funeral Homes means several things. During the first few days, while the family is at the funeral home for visitation and or services, we are helpful in any way possible with services such as providing chairs to the home, delivery of flowers, and fulfilling various other requests, whenever possible

Following the services, we are pleased to offer assistance with the filing of insurance claims, veteran’s benefits, social security claims and other related
paperwork.

It is our goal to remember that the needs of the families we serve do not end at the conclusion of the funeral services. In keeping with this goal, we provide each family with a folder which contains helpful information relating to their grief process. We also sponsor a number of grief support programs which are open to the community such as:

BEREAVED PARENTS SUPPORT GROUP

Led by Fred and Betty Still, this group meets on the third Tuesday evening of each month at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville, Room one, beginning at 7:00 p.m.. This group has been meeting since December of 1996.

Bereaved Parents of the Jacksonville Area is a self-help organization offering friendship and understanding to bereaved parents. The purpose of the group meeting is to promote and aid parents in the positive resolution of the grief experiences resulting from the death of their child, and to foster the physical and emotional health of bereaved parents and siblings.

Present at the meeting are parents who have worked through their own grief and who can be an example that parents can adjust to their loss and again find life to be meaningful and purposeful.

HELP THROUGH THE HOLIDAYS

Help Through the Holidays
is a program held in November each year to assist families of the community who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one. The goals of this program are:

To provide helpful suggestions for ways to cope with facing a first or second holiday season following the loss of a loved one

To provide encouragement from others who have walked the journey of grief and have somehow survived

To allow families a time of remembrance for their loved ones as they enter the holiday season

More information about any of these programs is available at the funeral home upon request.
