Terry Airsman began his career in the funeral home business in 1955 when as a 15-year-old boy, he was hired as a "lawn boy" by William H. and Jean Wolfe who owned the Wolfe Memorial Home in Roodhouse. Terry married Mary Beth Hayes from Jacksonville in 1963, and she has worked alongside him serving families in the communities where they own and manage funeral homes. The Airsmans have three children: John; Elizabeth, married to Greg May; and Michael, married to Erica. Greg and Elizabeth have joined them in the business and share in their commitment to excellence.
The Airsmans were joined in business with Jesse and Niela Hires in March of 1979 to form Airsman - Hires corporation. The two families worked together until Jesse retired in 1992.
Terry and Mary Beth own funeral homes in the following West Central Illinois towns: Jacksonville, Roodhouse, White Hall, Carrollton, Pittsfield, Waverly, Beardstown, Palmyra, Griggsville, and Winchester. Over the years, they have added to their staff several people who share their philosophy of unequaled service to families. Among their employees are some who have been a part of the Airsman - Hires family for more than 30 years, which is a reflection of the harmony and stability within the corporation.
"Extra Mile" Service to families and careful attention to details are the trademarks of the success of Airsman - Hires Funeral Homes and the reason they are the funeral home of choice of many families in West Central Illinois.
