Geraldine Landess, age 89, of the Pittsfield Eastside HealthCare Center in Pittsfield, Ill. and formerly of Milton, Ill. died Thursday afternoon (Nov. 23, 2006) at the HealthCare Center. She was born March 18, 1917 in Detroit, Ill. daughter of the late Fay and Eva Fenton Sanderson. She married Santford Landess in June of 1939 in Louisiana, Mo. and he preceded her in death in April of 1982. Surviving are two daughters, Kay Sanderson of Milton, Ill. and Gail Hinton and husband Chuck of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; two sons, Kenny Landess and wife Mary of Kansas City, Kansas and Wayne Landess of Jacksonville, Ill.; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchilden; one great-great grandson; three sisters, Katy Hamman of Milton, Ill., Eloise Allen and husband Everett of Pittsfield, Ill., and Mildred Holloway and husband Lee of Pittsfield, Ill.; one brother, Ray Sanderson and wife Dorothy of Aurora, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one brother, Russel Sanderson; and a son-in-law, John Sanderson. Mrs. Landess was a member of the Milton Christian Church in Milton, Ill. where she was active in Ladies Aid. She was a longtime member of the Montezuma Women’s Club and was affiliated with the RSVP Program thru Senior Citizens, serving as a volunteer for many years. She also served on the Pike County Senior Citizens Council. Mrs. Landess enjoyed her hobbies of sewing, crocheting, reading, and flower gardening. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday (November 27, 2006) at the Milton Christian Church in Milton, Ill. Burial will be in French Cemetery near Milton, Ill. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Ill.
