| Fred T. Manker, age 60, of Griggsville, Il. died late Monday evening (January 11, 2010) at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Il. He was born October 22, 1949 in Florence, Il. son of Earl and Phyllis Kemper Manker. Surviving are three daughters, Cindy Lawrence and husband Jim of Sand Hill, Mississippi, Vicky Cobb and husband Charles of Richton, Mississippi and Mary Ann Smith of Biloxi, Mississippi; a beloved aunt who raised him, Nadine Manker of Griggsville, Il. his mother, Phyllis Bostick of Winchester, Il.; four grandchildren, Robert Darbonne of Meridian, Mississippi, Monica Thompson Manker and Samantha Ann Thompson Manker both of Sumrall, Mississippi, Jonathan Dontea Smith of Biloxi, Mississippi; 4 sisters, Darlene Peek of Winchester, Il. Angela Ferneyhough of Winchester, Il.; Barbara Dillon and husband James of Winchester, Il. and Mary Etta Crain and husband Richard of New York; brothers, Jim Peek and wife Donna of Jacksonville, E.W. Manker of Chapin, Il., and Billy Manker and wife Tina of Griggsville, Il.; cousins, Larry Manker and wife Patty of Griggsville, Il and Jim Manker of Jacksonville, Il.; a uncle, Junior Manker and wife Donna of Griggsville, Il.; and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother, Paul Manker. He was a chef at the Holiday Inn East in Springfield, Il. for seven years as well as being a chef on a barge. Later in life he moved to Mississippi where he became a tree trimmer from 1969 until 2006. He helped in the cleanup from hurricane Katrina in 2005. Moving back to Illinois in 2006, he enjoyed yard work, fishing, and driving and spotting wildlife at night. Fred also loved practical jokes and joking with his friends. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Saturday (January 16, 2010) at the Lighthouse Church in Griggsville, Il. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
