| E. Dwight Hoover, age 83, of Milton, Il. died Saturday (January 23, 2010) at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, il. He was born January 30, 1926 in Milton, Il. son of the late Harry and Hilda Johnston Hoover. He married Wanda Sallee on March 26, 1950 in Pittsfield, Il. and she survives. Also surviving is a daughter, Rowena Lipcamon and husband Roger of Perry, Il.; a son, Bruce Hoover of Las Vegas, Nevada; four grandchildren, Lacy Dunn and husband Doug of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Logan Hoover, Brett Hoover, and Bryant Hoover all of Las Vegas, Nevada; one great-granddaughter, Mckenzie Hoover of Phoenix, Arizona; one brother, John O. Hoover of Missouri; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Caroline Hoover in infancy and Virginia Hayden. Mr. Hoover was graduate of Milton High School in Milton, Il. And following high school he enlisted in the U. S. Army serving in Germany during W.W. II. Following the war he returned to Pike County farming east of Milton. Later he drove a gas truck for Pike County Farm Service receiving a Safety Award for driving a burning gas truck out of Milton to avoid any damage to the residents of Milton. He returned to farming in 1969 in the Milton area where he farmed the rest of his years. He was a member of the Milton Christian Church, and a past member of Pike County Farm Bureau. Dwight was a past member of the Milton town board where he helped aid the community in establishing the first water system and the first fire truck in Milton. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Cemetery at Milton, Il. where graveside military rites will be conducted by Pittsfield American Legion Post.
