| Gerhardt J. “Gary??? Boehs, 90, of Chapin, died Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Jacksonville Convalescent Center in Jacksonville. He was born August 16, 1919, near Chapin, the son of Herman and Annie Werries Boehs. He married Ruth Oleson on April 24, 1949, in Beardstown, and she preceded him in death on November 6, 2001. He is survived by one son, Dennis (wife, Linda) Boehs of Chapin, one daughter, Sandy (husband, John) Flynn of Peoria; five grandchildren, Amber Jacobson of Chapin, Jon (wife, Jenny) Boehs of Washington, Carrie (husband, Jason) Donovan of Chapin, Ryan (wife, Michelle) Flynn of Bolingbrook, and Megan Flynn of Peoria; seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Herman Boehs, and four sisters, Velma Nortrup, Clara Leischner, Lorna Boatman, and Carrie Clark preceded him in death. Mr. Boehs farmed for many years in the Chapin community. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and a member of the Men’s Club at the church. He served in the United States Army in the 112th Cavalry during World War II. Mr. Boehs enjoyed coon hunting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church near Chapin, with burial at Grace Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the Williamson Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
