Hallie Juanita Crenshaw, 87, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, February 6, 2010, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. She was born December 10, 1922, in Vinita, Oklahoma, the daughter of Thomas L. and Venia Chute Hendricks. She married Leo L. Crenshaw on December 16, 1940, and he preceded her in death. She is survived by five sons, Larry (wife, Jarice) Crenshaw and Richard (wife, Gloria) Crenshaw, both of Jacksonville, Dan (wife, Della) Crenshaw of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Robert Crenshaw of Trenton, Georgia, and Scott (wife, Nyssa) Crenshaw of Springfield; three daughters, Judy (husband, Michael) Smith of Rushville, Alice (deceased husband, Richard) Johnson of Phoenix, Arizona, and Darlene (husband, Glenn) McMurl of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 18 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, one brother, Melvin (wife, Marilyn) Hendricks of Rushville, one sister, Nina (deceased husband, Roy) Merrill of Astoria, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Quentin Hendricks, Lyndle Hendricks, Chester Hendricks, Archie Hendricks, and Marlin Hendricks, and five sisters, Faye Gossage, Neva Hayes, Virginia Crenshaw, Verona Crenshaw, and Elna Hendricks. Mrs. Crenshaw was a homemaker. She loved to sing, play the accordion, and listen to gospel music. She sang at numerous weddings and funerals, and used her music to minister in area nursing homes. She was a member of The Lord’s Congregation in Jacksonville. A funeral service will be held at 12 Noon on Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at Williamson Funeral Home, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
