| Lillian Campbell, age 89, of the Renaissance Care Center in Canton, Il. and formerly of Milton, Il. died Tuesday afternoon (February 23, 2010) at Graham Hospital in Canton. She was born July 22, 1920 in Baylis, Il. daughter of the late John and Lena Brannick Whitaker. She married Jerome B. Campbell on December 30, 1939 in Palmyra, Mo. Jerome preceded her in death on July 16, 1993. Surviving are three daughters, Grace Helm and husband Jerry of Canton, Il., Mary Herst of Lake Ozark, Mo., and Frances Faulkner of Canton, Il.; two sons, Larry Campbell and wife Gayle of Viola, Il. and Richard Campbell and wife Rebecca of Lewistown, Il.; nineteen grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Hilda Browner of Graham, North Carolina; one brother, George Whitaker of Millstadt, Il.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Brenda Stevens and Linda Stanley; a great-granddaughter Kelly Rae Penn; two son-in-laws, Dan Stevens and Carroll Stanley; a sister, Hazel Henthorn; and a brother, John Whitaker, Jr. Mrs. Campbell was a graduate of Baylis High School She was a member of the Milton Baptist Church. She loved to flower and vegetable garden and also loved canning vegetables. In earlier years, Lillian loved softball and played first base. She also loved tap dancing and playing cards. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday (February 27, 2010) at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Pittsfield, Il. Burial will be in Smith Cemetery near Milton, Il. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home.
