| Edward M. Hergenrother, 86 of Palmyra, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield, after a three month illness . He was born October 24, 1923 in Springfield, the son of Frank and Josephine Mahoney Hergenrother . He married Mattie Steil, Sept. 10, 1946 and she survives. He is also survived by two sons; Steve (wife, Georgia) of Auburn , Tom of Springfield ; a sister, Mary Francis Sheehan of Springfield; four grandchildren, Stephanie, Wade, Christine and Eric; and six great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Sheehan. He was a long time farmer in the New Berlin - Palmyra areas, and retired from Kraft Foods in 1994. He loved his family, working in the yard, gardening, and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Virden. A funeral Mass will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Berlin, with Fr. Angel Sierra officiating. Burial is in St. Augustine Cemetery in Ashland.
