| Kenneth William Harms, 72, of Carrolton, IL, died Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at White Hall Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Redbud, IL on November 26, 1937, he was the son of the late Adelbert Jon and Cordellia (nee Miller) Harms. He married Kathryn Eckert on November 17, 1962 in Collinsville, IL and she survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Karla Werre (husband Joe), and two (2) sons Kevin Harms (wife Diane) and Keith Harms (wife Julia); eight (8) grandchildren, Samantha and Nicholas Eckert, Rebecca, Cora and Lydia Harms, Alyssa, Allen-Jon and Aarron Harms. Survived by three sisters, Janet Rhein, Betty Warhenburg, and Judy Luongo and one brother, Gary Harms. Mr. Harms retired in 2000 as Farm Bureau Manager of both Greene County and Jersey County Farm Bureau Offices of the Illinois Farm Bureau after 39 years of service. He was a member of the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church of Carrollton. He was instrumental in the development of the Greene County Rural Water and acted as Treasurer for several years. He served in the US Army - Illinois National Guard and was discharged July 31, 1965 with the rank of Sergeant First Class. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, woodworking and reading. He is a lifetime member of FFA. He was an advocate of young people in agriculture through 4H, FFA, and Farm Bureau – Young Farmers. Visitation will be held on Friday March 5 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home. Funeral will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church on Saturday, March 6, at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow service at Hickory Grove Cemetery in Wrights. Memorials can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or White Hall Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. | |||||
