Pauline Walkington, 82, of Jacksonville passed away early Thursday morning, March 4, 2010 at Passavant Area Hospital. She was born May 9, 1927 in Sinclair the daughter of Forrest Raymond and Dora Louella Smock Raffety. She married Marion Vale Walkington on June 29, 1944 in Roodhouse and he survives. She is also survived by 4 sons, James (wife, Pat) Walkington of Meredosia , Ernest (wife, Vivian) Walkington of Jacksonville, Robert (wife, Vickie) Walkington of Carrollton and Stephen (wife, Michelle) Walkington of Salem ; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Forrest Raffety of Fairview Heights and Harlan (wife, Theresa) Raffety of Hazelton, PA and one sister, Sandra Gilmore of Pawnee . She was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Wendell Raffety (surviving wife, Janet of Collinsville), John Raffety (surviving wife, Kay of Carlinville) and Carol Raffety (surviving wife, Joyce of Decatur). Mrs. Walkington was a devoted pastor’s wife having served several churches in Illinois, and a loving mother and grandmother She was very generous and was always helping others and was a faithful servant of the Lord. She enjoyed crocheting and working on picture albums. Prior to moving to Jacksonville, she and her husband were the caretakers of the Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Griggsville. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 8, 2010 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Union Cemetery northwest of Greenfield. The family will meet friends from 3-6 on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Baptist Children’s Home in Carmi.
