| Charles A. “Toad??? Skinner, 77, of Eldred died Friday evening March 5 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. Born in Saline City, MO, he was the son of the late Clarence and Martha Hinton Skinner. He married the former Betty L. Hall on June 28, 1951 in Slater, MO and she survives. Also surviving are 3 daughters: Susan (Rickey) Blakey of Manchester, Debra (Larry) Leimkuehler of Reeds Spring, MO, Judith (Donn) Emis of Prairie Grove, Ark., 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters: Emma Belle Brame of IA and Dorothy George Barry of TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers: Clarence, John, Gene and Harold Skinner, a sister Hazel and a special nephew considered a son Don Campbell. Charlie grew up in Slater, MO where he played football and baseball and graduated high school in 1950. He worked 40 years for the railroad starting as a car man in Slater, MO for GM&O working his way up to General Foreman of the Mechanical Dept. In those years he worked in Mexico, MO, Roodhouse, Chicago, Kansas City and Council Bluff, IA. He was a member of the Slater First Baptist Church where he worked with the RA boys. He loved fishing and hunting. Mostly he enjoyed his yearly deer hunting trips to south MO, camping out with his brother Gene, nephew Don, son-in-law Rick and friend Mike. He loved his special little doggy-Mitzy. He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Visitation will be from 11 A.M. until service time at 1 P.M. at Airsman-Hires Funeral Home in Carrollton on Monday March 8. Following services, burial will be in Eldred Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
