| Lois Crawford, age 82, of Baylis, Il. died late Sunday evening (March 7, 2010) at Illini Hospital in Pittsfield, Il. She was born June 10, 1927 in Marshalltown, Iowa daughter of the late George and Ruth Dinsmore Holmes. She married Earl Barton Crawford in 1948 and he preceded her in death. Surviving is one daughter, Trella Thomas and husband Wayne of Jefferson City, Mo.; three sons, Bruce Crawford and George Crawford and wife Brenda all of Baylis, Il., and Bart Crawford and wife Jean of Jefferson, Georgia; twelve grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Kembel and husband Harry of Cheyenne, Wyoming; a brother, Roy Holmes and wife Rena of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Dr. John Walterscheid; and one sister, Marcella Oldfield. Lois attended Baylis High School in Baylis, Il. before moving to Valparaiso, Indiana where she graduated high school. She was was a 27 year employee of Brown Shoe in Pittsfield, Il. She later became an LPN working at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Il. as well as Good Samaritan Home in Quincy, Il. and was a former Director of Nursing at Pittsfield Eastside Healthcare in Pittsfield, Il. She was a member of the Baylis United Brethren Church in Baylis, Il. She loved gardening, flowers, and her grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Wednesday (March 10, 2010) at the Baylis Baptist Church in Baylis, Il. Burial will be in Baylis Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
