Larry Otis Thomas, 64, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Heritage Health in Jacksonville. He was born September 21, 1947, in Jacksonville, the son of Otis and Virginia Baumgartner Thomas. He married Alice Rice on September 21, 1983 in Jacksonville, and she survives. He is also survived by three children, Krystal Thomas of Franklin, Troy (fiancé, Valerie Chamberlain) Thomas of Jacksonville, and Stephanie Thomas at home; four grandchildren, Danny Clemons, Allie Bowman, Carrie Bowman, and Gabriella Faith Thomas; and one brother, Garry (wife, Karen) Thomas of Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ray Alan Thomas (surviving wife Dana of Jacksonville.) Mr. Thomas worked in distribution at Capital Records/EMI for nearly 30 years. He also worked as an assistant manager at Shopko. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, as a sergeant in the 96th Special Ops Wing, 56th Combat Support Group stationed in Thailand. He was a member of Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church in Jacksonville, and a former governor of the Jacksonville Moose Lodge. He loved his family, friends, and cooking. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 23, 2012, at Williamson Funeral Home. A graveside service with military rites will be conducted at 12 Noon Monday at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. The family will meet friends from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family. Condolences may be left online at www.airsman-hires.com.
