| Roger L. Mallicoat, 76 of Beardstown, died Thursday, August 09, 2012 at Heritage Health in Beardstown. He was born October 14, 1935 in Beardstown, the son of Robert L. and Anna Linnea Larson Mallicoat. He married Velma White in December of 1963 in Beardstown. Surviving is his children Roger Mallicoat II of Beardstown and Leah (husband Donald) Malone of Rushville; three stepchildren Steve Browning of Brookfield, MO, Emil Surratt of Beardstown, and Debbie Young of Beardstown; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers Donald (wife JoAnn) Mallicoat of East Peoria and Jerry (wife Rosemary) Mallicoat of Creve Coeur; and one sister Faye (husband Delmos) Winkleman of Arenzville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ronald (surviving wife Doris) Mallicoat of Arenzville. Roger attended Beardstown High School. He worked thirty-eight years on the barge line as a deckhand and first mate. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and chopping wood. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 13, 2012 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to the family to help pay for funeral expenses. .
