Post-funeral assistance at Airsman - Hires Funeral Homes means several things. During the first few days, while the family is at the funeral home for visitation and or services, we are helpful in any way possible with services such as providing chairs to the home, delivery of flowers, and fulfilling various other requests, whenever possible
Following the services, we are pleased to offer assistance with the filing of insurance claims, veteran’s benefits, social security claims and other related
paperwork.
It is our goal to remember that the needs of the families we serve do not end at the conclusion of the funeral services. In keeping with this goal, we provide each family with a folder which contains helpful information relating to their grief process. We also sponsor a number of grief support programs which are open to the community such as:
Berevend Parents Support Group
We strive to serve our families beyond their early association with our funeral homes and the early stages of their grief journey. We sponsor Bereaved Parents of the Jacksonville Area, a local chapter with national affiliations, for parents, grandparents, and siblings who have lost a child.
Bereaved Parents is a self-help, not for profit group for Jacksonville and the surrounding communities which offers hope, understanding, and compassion for those who are trying to rebuild their lives after the death of a child in their family, school, or community.
This group meets monthly (3rd Tuesday) at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville and is facilitated by Nancy Bork. She has lost both of her sons in accidents. Nancy is the Pastoral Assistant at First Presbyterian Church, co-facilitates the Jacksonville High School grief group, has received additional training in Advanced Bereavement programs, and continues her grief/death education by attending seminars and workshops.
As our staff continues to meet the immediate needs of grieving families, we understand that grief can be a lonely journey, which need not be traveled alone. Our effort to offer our families this group support is another opportunity that we believe continues our tradition of compassion and care.
