Welcome Home Society
At Airsman - Hires Funeral Homes, we provide a full range of funeral services and price packages. These range from traditional services to cremation services and can be customized to meet the needs and consider the financial circumstances of your family.
Funeral Services need not be expensive or large to be meaningful, but they must be personal. Our funeral directors are prepared to assist a family in selecting the types of services that best suit their needs and circumstances. Whether it be a traditional service or a memorial service following cremation, we can assist you in making that service as meaningful and personal as you'd like.
Among the ways some of our families have personalized funeral services are:
Memory Boards: We provide large bulletin boards and easels to display photos that the family may bring in to be viewed at the visitation or on the day of the service. In addition, many families wish to use framed photographs which we are happy to assist you in displaying.
Personal Memorabilia: Many families are bringing some of their loved one's personal belongings which represent their life's interests or accomplishments. Our staff is more than happy to assist in arranging the items in a meaningful way.
Eulogies: In addition to the clergy giving words of scripture and comfort, it is becoming more common for families to ask one or more persons to give a eulogy which talks about the life of the deceased from a personal perspective. Some families write this eulogy and ask the minister to read it for them as a part of the service. We offer assistance with the writing of a eulogy if needed.
Traditional Services can be scheduled to accommodate the needs of today's families. Many families choose visitation one day prior to the funeral.
Cremation Services. The reasons people prefer cremation over traditional burial are varied. For some, it seems more environmentally sound. For others, it is a more spiritual decision. Still others are not sure why they prefer cremation but know that they would like to have that option available to them.
Families choosing cremation may still have a visitation, a funeral service, a memorial service and a permanent place for loved ones to visit for years to come.* Our funeral directors will work with you and your family to make sure the service has as many or as few of the elements of a traditional service as you desire. For disposition, families may choose permanent possession, scattering or burial.
*Embalming is required if the body will be viewed.
Teresa Brady has been with Airsman-Hires since November 2003. She serves as Secretary/Office Manager at our Jacksonville location and assists the directors of our other facilities.
Some of the ways Teresa and our Directors assist our families are listed below:
--Contacting Social Security
Our office will contact the Social Security Department on behalf of your family to notify them that a death has occurred. In some instances, your family will need to be in touch with them to secure benefits for widows or dependent children. Every assistance necessary will be provided by our office to assist in this process.
--Filing necessary Veterans Benefit Forms
Our staff will assist your family in completing and filing all necessary forms pertaining to veterans affairs and benefits due you.
--Assisting with Insurance Companies
Teresa frequently works for several weeks or months with family members to secure forms, assist in properly filing information and securing benefits for the family. At Airsman - Hires, we believe that our service to families does not end at the conclusion of the funeral services.
--Filing requests for Public Assistance
In the event that Public Aid funds are necessary to assist a family financially, Teresa or one of our directors is available to help with filing the appropriate paperwork involved. These matters are handled compassionately and with dignity as we advocate for the good of all the families we serve.
--Memorial Gifts
Under the direction of Mary Beth Airsman, all memorial gifts given to organizations are carefully recorded and a list is given to the family, including names and addresses of donors to assist with acknowledging the gifts. The funeral home takes responsibility for getting the gifts to the designated organization. Receipts are secured and filed in our office.
We provide a way for you to save a significant amount of unnecessary difficulty and expenses should a death occur more than 100 miles from home.
International Welcome Home Society offers, through our funeral homes, a membership benefit which will assist your family by:
locating a funeral home or mortuary to handle arrangements in the area where the death occurs
transporting remains from the site of death to the local mortuary or funeral home
embalming of the body to prepare for transportation
transporting the remains to an Airsman - Hires Funeral Home by air or other appropriate means
purchasing the proper container necessary for transportation
securing death certificates in the county or country where the death occurs
in the case of an overseas death, as long as diplomatic relations exist, the procurement of consular services
This membership is available for a one time cost of $325.00 per person. This service may only be purchased in advance and is not transferable.
If the deceased has already paid for these services in a prearranged, prefunded funeral, the costs will be refunded, if allowed, or applied to other services or merchandise.
